Effect of CO2 Phase on Pore Geometry of Saline Reservoir Rock

Abstract The phase of CO 2 present in a saline reservoir influences the change pore geometry properties rocks and consequently transport storage integrity reservoir. In this study, digital rock physics was used to evaluate saturated with different phaseCO -brine under conditions. changes due -brine-rock interaction were quantified. addition compression, caused further reduction porosity by precipitation. Compared dry sample, gaseous -br sample reduced most, lower 15% after saturation compression. There pre-compression compression for all samples, however, highest -br-saturated (13%). flatness surfaces reduced, pores became less rounded especially supercritical rock. results from research provide valuable input guide robust simulation where phases could be present.
